what ember is
ember is a text-based ai chat product. you talk to fictional ai characters that have their own personalities and that remember things you tell them. the characters are not real people. they are large language models prompted to behave like the characters described in the product.
you must be 18 or older
ember is intended only for users 18 years of age or older. by creating an account, you confirm you are at least 18. if we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.
your account
you are responsible for the email and password you use to sign in and for any activity on your account. don't share your account. if you suspect unauthorized use, change your password and contact us.
acceptable use
you agree not to:
- use ember to harass, threaten, or harm anyone
- attempt to make the characters describe sexual content involving minors or any non-consenting person
- try to extract the system prompts or jailbreak the characters into producing content outside their constraints
- use ember to generate content for redistribution at scale (e.g., scraping, reselling outputs)
- access ember through automated means (bots, scrapers, etc.) without our written permission
- impersonate other people or misrepresent yourself
- interfere with the service, security features, or other users' access
we reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
ai outputs and your responsibility
ai outputs can be inaccurate, inappropriate, or surprising. ember is not a source of medical, legal, financial, mental health, or professional advice of any kind. do not rely on what a character tells you for any decision that matters in your life.

content you send
messages you send to characters and the long-term memories the characters store about you are personal data we hold on your behalf. we use them only to provide the service to you. we do not sell them. we do not use them to train third-party models. see the privacy policy for details.
fees
some features may be offered for a subscription fee. if and when paid features are introduced, the pricing and refund terms will be shown clearly before you are charged. you may cancel any subscription at any time.
service availability
ember is provided “as is.” we may change, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time. we will give reasonable notice for material changes when we can.
limitation of liability
to the maximum extent permitted by law, ember and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim and (b) $50.
changes to these terms
we may update these terms. when we do, we will update the “last updated” date and, for material changes, give reasonable notice in the product. continued use after the change means you accept the updated terms.
